One of the key aims of the Young Embryologist Network is to encourage communication between researchers across institutions, thus enabling us to create a diverse and interactive research community across all career levels. The annual Young Embryologist Meeting (YEM) is one of the main events at which we aim to facilitate discussion of various topics of developmental biology in a relaxed atmosphere. Over the past three years, this has proved to be a successful event, bringing together scientists from across the UK and abroad.

YEM:2012 is open to everyone and is free. It will be a full day event, running from 10am to 5pm on Friday 1st June. The meeting will be held at the UCL Institute of Child Health in London, at the Kennedy Lecture Theatre. Lunch and coffee will be provided.

The meeting will consist of a series of talks and a poster session by young embryologists. Preference is given to PhD students and post-docs, and we aim to show a diverse range of topics and models. Prizes will be awarded for the best talks and posters.

We are pleased to announce that the keynote lecture this year will be presented by Professor Liz Robertson, from Oxford University. (Her website can be found here.) We will also be holding a Q&A Publishing Session, as a follow up to the very popular Q&A Careers session at last year's meeting. This will consist of a panel of editors from journals relevant to young embryologists answering all questions regarding publishing in academic journals. The panel members will be Katie Ridd, Senior Editor of Nature Communications; Katherine Brown, Executive Editor of Development; and, David Wilkinson, Editor in Chief of Mechanisms of Development.

Following the meeting, we will adjourn to the nearby Rugby Tavern for informal drinks. The Rugby Tavern offers a range of food, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Everyone is more than welcome to join us there from 5.30pm.

Attending the Meeting:
The meeting is free to attend following registration, and we encourage everyone to come along. (You don't necessarily have to be young!).

Talk and Poster Abstract Submissions
If you wish to present a talk or poster, please indicate this on the registration form and complete the Abstract section of the form. Talks should last 15 minutes, and we will allow 5 minutes for questions. The deadline for abstract submissions is 31st March. We will contact you in April to confirm if your submission has been successful.
